Soundblaster Problems

The reinstallation process of windows 2000 did not detect my soundcard. Now
after much hunting i have found that its a generic soundblaster. However,
Windows has allocated my sound card resource to Legacy Audio drivers which
are now conflicting with my sound card and taking away the resource. It will
not let me disable them in device manager- how do i get my soundcard working
and disable the drivers that are using its resource?

Many thanks

You have to get the correct drivers for the sound card for Win2k and
install them and then it will work. If you can't find drivers (always a
difficulty with older generic cards and older operating systems), just
uninstall what you've got and replace it with a new card. You can get a
basic sound card for under $20 USD so there's no reason to spend a lot
of time and energy on this.
