Problem with SoundBlaster Audigy 2 hardware acceleration

O

Orion

I while back I changed my hardware acceleration of my SoundBlaster Audigy 2
ZS Platinum Pro to "Basic acceleration" to eliminate a game lock up problem
(a suggestion on the website to fix the lockups). Now when I try to set it
back to "Full acceleration" in the advanced audio properties and in dxdiag
it will show that I'm using full acceleration but the surround sound isn't
working and it seems like my hardware buffers are still disabled. When I
restart the computer and go back to advanced audio properties the
acceleration is back at basic. No matter what I change (even finding the
settings in the registry's currentcontrolset and editing them there) it
always goes back to "Basic acceleration". Can anyone tell me how to solve
this problem?

Oh, I also uninstalled all of the soundcard's software and drivers and
deleted the inf files to do a full clean reinstall of the card.

I'm running Windows XP Pro on a 3000+ Athlon XP

Thanks in advanced for any help,
Orion

What happens when you run the Creative Diagnostics software? Do you pass
all the tests?

When you right click on the speaker icon in the SysTray and select
Adjust Audio Properties\Volume\Speaker Settings\Advanced what is listed
in speaker setup? Can you select one of the surround sound entries?

When you go to Device Manager and look at the Creative SB Audigy 2(WDM)
properties\Properties tab, are all of the entries checked for "use audio
features on this device"?

Are you using the latest Audigy-2 drivers which I think show in DxDiag
as ctaud2k.sys 5.12.0001.1164 and 5.12.8.1164 in Device Manager. Is
DirectX up to date?
