soundblaster does not work because next to in-buildmother board sound card

Ik have a soundblaster CT5803 soundcard. I have installed it into a pci slot. I have tried to get it to work with and without the cable that comes from the soundcard plugged in into a fitting connector on the motherboard.

I also have a soundcard on my MSI motherboard. On my Device Manager it shows as a 'Realtec AC97 Audio for VIA (R) AUdio Controller'.

I have installed the drivers for the Soundblaster. If i check it via the Device Manager, it tells me that the device is working properly.

Still, I cannot get the soundblaster to work. The in-build card produces sound, the Soundblaster does not (no system sounds, no music).

In the device manager, I have also disabled the Realtek AC97 entry, but the Soundblaster still does not work.

I have the following questions
(1) the cable from the Sounblaster card, do I need to connect it to the motherboard. Some posts on the need tell me that usually this is not necessary.
(2) is it possible, just to be sure, that the Soundblaster is ok? BTW if I touch the pins on the connector cable that comes from the soundblaster, I hear some noise throug my speakers, so something is coming through
(3) How can I get this card to work instead of the soundcard on the motherboard?

Try turning the on-board sound off in the BIOS

I would think of the following:

when you disabled the onboard sound card, did you also remove the
software/drivers for it?

When you attempted to use the soundblaster, did you get the proper drivers
for that model of card? and did you have the onboard sound software
uninstalled, or did you just disabled the onboard sound?

once having the creative card installed, did you check all the settings for
source and speakers and also have the proper cables in the proper ports?

I would think of the following:

when you disabled the onboard sound card, did you also remove the
software/drivers for it?

1. To enable a PCI audio card, we must first disable the
sound-on-board circuit in the BIOS. (It is no good doing
this only in Device Manager, because BIOS can recognize
only one audio system. If SoB is enabled, BIOS cannot
recognize the PCI card.)

2. When that is done, drivers for the unused Realtek SoB
are irrelevant. Their presence/absence does not override the
BIOS, now enabling the PCI card annd not the Realtek SoB.
