geforce graphics and windows mdeia player

sorry if this is a dumb question,

have just installed a geforce 6200 graphics card in my desktop, and have
reinstalled my file viewing programmes.. windows media player, nero
showtime, quicktime and vlc media player ( i know i have 4 and only need one,
but that's not the point)

now when i try to watch any kind of video at all it just goes to the
"loading media " screen of the relevant player, regardless of which
programme i use, then freezes there, and in my task manager page the cpu
usage by whichever programme i'm using is 99 % so it kills my computer.

I assume that in deleting the integrated video driver ( a task i had to do
to install the new one) i have failed to input the new pathways into media
player, but i cannot find a way to do this, as i cannot open mediaplayer to
get to the options page as it just freezes...plese help!!

Did you install the nVidia driver or not? If you use only the Microsoft lamed
version of the driver, you may get this problem.

i have installed the nvidia drivers from the cd that came with it, and have
installed direct x 9.0 too.

looking through this board it seems other people have come up with the same
problem, but no one seems to have a solution. thank you for trying to help
me, any ideas what i can do??

You might want to download the latest drivers that nVidia released. Depending
on the version that you have installed, there may be have been "updates" since
the CD version that you have.

Check with www.nvidia.com

Me too!,

I just bought a GeForce 6200 card and when I play a movie
with either quicktime or VLC it just freezes the computer.
To be certain : I re-installed the XP sp2 completely and I still have
the problem!,

I think that the driver of the video card interfere with the cpu or
something
twisted,

Does anyone has the solution to this problem ?

did anyone manage to sort this out?

similar problem recently started happening to me a few months ago. and
possibly relates to a CPU hotfix that was installed for a tv card,
altho uninstalling it had no effect so i'm not sure.

for me, its only quicktime player that this happens with. ive tried the
obvious stuff like reinstalling it etc. altho its not much of a pain as
i only use quicktime when viewing trailers on their website.

its quite strange cos CPU usage seems to spike up and down a lot during
this but nothing on the list shows to be hogging the CPU.

i would have thought its better to use old threads rather than several
ppl making the same new threads with the same problem?

Your question has nothing to do with a Geforce/Windows Media Player
problem. You have a problem with a different player -- Quicktime. So
you should have placed this question as a new topic.

BTW: I too was having problems with the Quicktime from Apple. I have
since dumped it and I am using the "Quicktime Alternative."
