Windows Mail - receipt issues

S

southernice

Within the past 48 hours I am unable to receive certain emails - specifically
those with attachments or sent as part of a group.

Contacted my isp provider - they claim it is not their issue.

Error message received is : SMTP; 554 Transaction failed.

Please provide any suggestions

Thanks.

That's not the complete error message.
Right-click on your error message, copy, then paste it into a reply here.
We can't do much troubleshooting without the complete error message.

Also, an SMTP error is a send error, not a receive error.
Do you get a different error when trying to receive?

P

PA Bear [MS MVP]

Post the complete error message or don't bother.

Do the messages show up in the inbox on your account's webmail page?

Here's the error message received when I tried to send an email to my account.

(e-mail address removed).
It may have been a temporary glitch. Try again.
If the problem continues, the destination server may have a block against

Thanks.
We have tried most of the day - no attachments can be sent with an email and
if email is forwarded to a group, our address is rejected - must be forwarded
separately.....but still no attachments are received. Also - this condition
occurs with Yahoo, AOL, gmail, hotmail.

Contacted our isp provider - they are forwarding this issue to their level 2
- another 24 - 48 hours.

When you say "this condition occurs with Yahoo, AOL, gmail, hotmail"
are you talking about the recipient's mail provider, or do you mean you
have tried sending from different accounts of your own? How about
sending from AOL webmail or a different webmail account?

We have tried most of the day - no attachments can be sent with an email
and if email is forwarded to a group, our address is rejected - must be
forwarded separately.....but still no attachments are received. Also -
this condition occurs with Yahoo, AOL, gmail, hotmail.

Contacted our isp provider - they are forwarding this issue to their
level 2 - another 24 - 48 hours.

I had no trouble while testing the recipient email address
(e-mail address removed).
It may have been a temporary glitch. Try again.
If the problem continues, the destination server may have a block
against
emails sent from AOL addresses.

Here's the error message received when I tried to send an email to my
account.

:

Within the past 48 hours I am unable to receive certain emails -
specifically those with attachments or sent as part of a group.

Contacted my isp provider - they claim it is not their issue.

Error message received is : SMTP; 554 Transaction failed.

Please provide any suggestions

Ask your mFire tech support to send an email with attachment to
(e-mail address removed) . Presumably they will experience what other
senders have experienced, a 'bounce' notice or non-delivery report.
Hopefully that will cause them to take ownership of the issue.
My theory is that the (e-mail address removed) account is corrupted on
the server, and tech support needs to reset the account. There are no
settings in Windows Mail to compensate for server malfunction.

We have sent emails from different providers to our "mfire" account and copy
us on our aol, and gmail accounts. The mail is received on all but the
"mfire" account. Tech support still claims it is not their issue!

Any mail that is bundled or with an attachment from a non-mfire account will
not download.

When you say "this condition occurs with Yahoo, AOL, gmail, hotmail"
are you talking about the recipient's mail provider, or do you mean you
have tried sending from different accounts of your own? How about
sending from AOL webmail or a different webmail account?
