Windows mail on Vista machine

J

James Bauer

I am running Windows Mail on a Vista machine which has MS Office 2007
installed.
I have purchased a new machine which runs Windows 7, 64-bit and also has MS
Office 2007 installed.

Is there a way to get from Windows Mail on the Vista machine to Outlook on
the Windows machine and move all my settings, address book, and old mail?

Thank you.

Sure.
On the Vista computer, with Windows Mail and Outlook installed...
In Windows Mail...
File - Export - Messages
select the Microsoft Exchange format
select the folders to export

File - Export - Windows Contacts - CSV

The messages should be in
C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\Outlook.pst
Copy it to the Win 7 computer.

In Outlook you can open this .pst
Then import the contacts from the .CSV file if needed (I'm not sure if the
contacts get copied to the .pst file)
