Windows Mail letting me to receive but not send E-mails

Lauren

I've been using Windows Mail to for my wowway account for over and year and
all of a sudden it just stopped letting me send E-mails. First when I tried
to send an E-mail a Windows Mail pop up came on asking me to log into my
account with username and password, which it has never asked me to do.
I logged in and still nothing worked.
Here are the error messages that I am getting
Subject 'Fw: please read ', Account: 'pop3.mail.wowway.com', Server:
'smtpauth.mail.wowway.com', Protocol: SMTP, Server Response: '250 8BITMIME',
Port: 25, Secure(SSL): Yes, Server Error: 250, Error Number: 0x800CCC7D
and
The connection to the server has failed. Account: 'pop3.mail.wowway.com',
Server: 'pop3.mail.wowway.com', Protocol: POP3, Port: 995, Secure(SSL): Yes,
Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Any help would be appreciated

Exact same problem. Went through the whole troubleshooting tool. There
should be some type of fix.

Looking at your ISP's setup instructions, I don't see any evidence
that they support SSL or port 995:

Do this to clear the send error:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
then uncheck the SSL option for the SMTP server.

Do this to clear the receive error:
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Advanced,
change the POP3 port to 110, and uncheck the SSL option.

If you would like some custom help, post your error message.
Nine times out of ten, the problem is due to using a setting different than
what your mail provider specifies.

Lauren,
http://www1.wowway.com/event/module/moduleKeyword/InternetTroubleshooting/

For outgoing mail server you seem to have the wrong address:
1.. Enter the server names:
2.. For the incoming server: pop3.mail.wowway.com.
3.. For the outgoing server: smtp.mail.wowway.com.
Not as indicated: smtpauth.mail.wowway.com
Also uncheck Use SSL, for the both incoming and outgoing mail servers, on the
advance tab for the acct. It appears WowWay does not use this.

Also if you are trying to use this acct to send mail while not connected to
WowWay.com service, you may need to change the port setting for the outgoing
mail server to 587 or 465, the default port setting of 25 may be block by the
service that you are connected to.

The message could not be sent. The authentication setting might not be
correct for your outgoing e-mail [SMTP] server. For help solving this
problem, go to Help, search for "Troubleshoot Windows Mail", and read the
"I'm having problems sending e-mail" section. If you need help determining
the proper server settings, please contact your e-mail service provider.

The rejected e-mail address was '(e-mail address removed)'. Subject 'test',
Account: 'pop.embarqmail.com', Server: 'smtp.embarqmail.com', Protocol: SMTP,
Server Response: '554 Authentication Failed, must login', Port: 25,
Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 554, Error Number: 0x800CCC79

I am getting this error on my husband's computer - I have double checked the
settings and they are correct...

Any ideas what to do next?

Make sure you have send authentication enabled.
Go to Tools, Accounts, select that account, Properties, Servers.
The box for "My server requires authentication" must be checked.
