Windows Mail error

Hi, I wonder if anyone could help me with a problem on my Windows Mail? I am
running Windows home premium 64 bit, it has been installed since December 07,
and from then until today, the Windows Mail has woked perfectly. However, it
has now "lost" my account details, so does not download my emails or allow me
to send them. I have tried going through the Accounts option to set up the
account again, but when I get to the end, whether or not I check the download
email now option - I get the following message "An error occurred while
reading the new account information. No changes have been made" All of my old
emails are still visible, and I can click on links in old emails and they
will open up the internet page in a new window. Other than downloading
Windows Live Mail or investing in stamps, envelopes and pigeons, does anyone
have any ideas as to what could have caused this? I haven't downloaded
anything recently, and running an anti virus check, spybot search & destroy
etc hasn't picked anything up. Any constructive answers gladly accepted!

Thanks in anticipation

Hi Bob, i'm using free AVG 7.5.516, and also went to McAfee's online virus
check service. Couldn't get Norton 360 to run cleanly on Vista 64 bit, kept
coming up with error messages that Norton's own help people couldnt help me
with :blush:P

Hi, thanks, I did that - Symantec help got me to download and run it after
uninstalling it, I then reinstalled 360, got the same msg straight away, and
contacted them again. After letting them take remote control of my pc on 2
occasions and pronouncing it fixed, telling me that Norton will work after
the next reboot (which it didn't), I kind of lost confidence as well as
patience with them, so gave up. That's when I went for the Grisoft AVG. Just
to add something else into the mix, i've just noticed that Windows Update
doesnt work now either. Anyone know where I can get a cheap abacus?

Having two antivirus programs installed at once is not a good idea.

We haven't heard of problems in Norton's cleanup program, though.

Luckily, i've only ever had one AV program installed at any one time - I
didn't download and run Grisoft AVG until i'd given up with Norton and
removed it from the system. Oh well, looks like i'm in for the delights of my
ISP's webmail service instead of Windows Mail then - thanks for your
suggestions though.

What antivirus programs do you have? Some of them tend to cause assorted
problems in Windows Mail, although seldom immediately.

What email provider is express? If you meant Outlook Express, it won't run
under Vista.
