Windows Logo testing false negative

Every time I install any piece of hardware on this computer (like a second
hard drive, for example) Windows (XP SP2) locates the drivers but then tells
me they have not passed Windows Logo testing. Obviously I just ignore this
message but it is clearly a false negative and is beginning to irritate me.
Either the lookup process or the database for Windows Logo testing is not
working.

Does anyone know how to fix this?

I don't think you are talking about a logo test, but some drivers are
certified for windows by microsoft and some are not. Often the ones not
certified work just fine.

You miss the point. These drivers ARE CERTIFIED by Microsoft. It's just
that this particular computer is unablr to recognise certified drivers and
sees them all as uncertified. "Windows Logo testing" is just the trade name
Microsoft gives to its driver certification process.
