Trying to download drivers for Sony handycam. Got the "does not pass logo
testing to verify compatablity with version of Windows. Is it OK to continue
with the install anyway? The message gives a choice of stopping installation
or ignore message and continue.

Hello,

It meant that Sony did not send their drivers for WHQL certification
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WHQL_Testing

Some common reasons for doing so is that getting drivers WHQL certified
means money need to exchange hands.

So many installation manuals now include the instruction to just click
Continue when the dialog appears.

So it will not harm my computer if I continue with the installation?? I
thought it was strange that on the MS page Sony URL is listed to get
downloads which is where I downloaded the drivers from. Your answer of $
involved makes a lot of sense. Thanks!!

Again..
Just continue anyway.

Also, now is a great time to point you to one of the easiest ways to find
information on problems you may be having and solutions others have
found:

Search using Google!
http://www.google.com/
(How-to: http://www.google.com/intl/en/help/basics.html )

An example - based off your original post - would be:
http://www.google.com/search?&q=Windows+XP+logo+testing+continue

Where it quickly becomes evident that continuing is harmless.

Another example would be:
http://www.google.com/search?&q=Windows+XP+what+is+logo+testing

Where you might get an answr like this:
http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000835.htm
or
http://www.worldstart.com/tips/tips.php/3138

Which shoiuld fully explaimn things to you.
