WIndows live messenger problem - please help

Recently my windows live messenger hasnt been working properly.
Everytime i sign in it will work for a bit then say not responding and then
close. I dont know how to fix this or why it is doing this. Can someone
please help?

there is a good MVP there called Jonathan Kay

he knows a great deal about live messenger and may help you better

Are there any error messages? Have you checked All Programs > Problem
Reports and Solutions to see if there are any logged error messages and
possible solutions for Windows Vista?
