Windows Live Messenger / Vista / Firewall Settings

Does anyone know what ports need to be open on a hardware filrewall to allow
Windows Live Messenger to sign in? I'm running the RTM version of Vista,
Windows Live Messenger 8.1 beta, and a Sonicwall Hardware Firewall on a
corporate network. When I try to Sign In with Live Messenger I can see the
firewall drop the tcp connection. But, everytime it's a different ip and
port number. I need to know what to open up to allow the connection.
Interestingly, I can run Live Messenger from a Windows XP virtual machine on
my Vista pc and it signs in fine. Any help on this is greatly appriciated.
Oh, and I cannot replace the sonicwall firewall because it establishes 20+
vpn's for the corporate network. Thx much.

Answered my own question - posting it in case anyone else stumbles across the
same issue. To fix the below problem do the following two things - update
the sonicwall firmware to most recent. Then, turn off the 'allow windows
messenger' option in the advanced firewall options. I know, it doesn't make
any sense, but it did work.
