Windows Live Messenger

Dear friends,

I am having a problem with my new windows vista computer (Brazilian
portuguese).
I am trying to log on my messenger account and it keep repiting an error
80048820 (extended error code 80048416).
It say that my firewall is blocking my connection.
I tryed to turn off the firewall and it still not working.
I also tryed to include the Live messenger on the exeception list... it
still not works.

I used to work with windows XP and the live messenger connect perfectly.
Important: I am behind a firewall server and I am loggin throug an HTTP proxy.
Options - conections - advanced conections - HTTP with user and password. If
I check the connection, it works, it says that I can connect to the server...
Everytime I test the connection... it says it is working... even the TCP
connection.

If I try to sign in, it generates this 80048416 erros and doesn't connect.
If I click "troublechoot", it fails, saying that "my gateway is offline".

The strange thing is that the same configuration worked on Windows XP... Why
doesn't it work on Vista?

Can anyone help me?

Thanks Shawn,

I don't know what did I do... but it worked!!!
We had to put my computer out of the firewall for a few moments... and the
MSN connected. When we put my computer back on the firewall, the MSN
continued working... I really do not know what happened, but it is working!
:)
Thanks for all the help.

Dear Shawn,

When I left this forum last week, my msn was working ok...
But now...
The same 80048820 error apear with the 80048416 extended error...
It has to be some incompatibility between my firewall (proxy) and the
messenger.

Is there any way I can solve this problem?

I imagine that if I ask the network administrator to put me outside the
firewall and connect to MSN... it is going to work the same way it was
working before, and after he puts me back at the firewall, MSN will still be
working.

I want to correct this problem!

Can anyone help me?

Bjs
