Windows Installer Probem with Microsoft Outlook 2003

I think the subject says it all.

When I start Outlook 2003, which has come with Office XP Pro, the Windows
Installer program starts up and runs for a minute.

Is this a virus or has someone hacked into my computer.

I have Nortons Anti-virus/Security on my system and it says there is no
problem.

Can anyone solve this problem because it is becoming annoying.

Actually the subject doesn't says is all. First of all; are you talking
about Outlook 2003 or 2002/XP. Since you said it came with Office XP (which
isn't Outlook 2003).
Also; what operating system are you using? Windows XP?
Do you get any error message? What is logged to the Event Viewer?
Does is run when you disable the virusscanner during install?
