Windows Installer/Norton antivirus 2005 problems

The following problem has just strated happening and I wonder if anyone can
help?

When I open Outlook (and sometimes word or excel) the following messages
occur:

1. Windows Installer - Preparing to install
2. Please wait while windows configures Norton Antivirus 2005
3. Norton Antivirus 2005 does not support the repair feature. Please
uninstall and reinstall.

What is it asking me to uninstall and reinstall? Office, Windows, Outlook,
Norton. Also how would i do any of these as they came pre-installed on the PC
so if I remove them, I haven't got any CD's to re-install with.

Thanks in anticipation-- Kevin

I had the same problem when I moved the Norton Systemworks folder from
Programs to another folder. Apparently NAV demands that it reside in
the Programs folder, whether you want it there or not. Solution was
just to move the Systemworks folder back to the Programs folder. I
suspect the same situation might apply for other Norton products
including NAV.

Thanks Guy. I have checked and all the Norton folders are in the program
files folder. Any other ideas anyone?

1. Call Symantec (probably futile).
2. Replace NAV with a free (and better) mechanism (AVG for example).

This is a Norton issue, but I would guess that you have "enabled" the
Norton Office plugin and it's not working. The Office groups recommend
disabling that plugin if that is the case. For more info, visit the
Norton support site/forum.
