Windows Installer Issue

When I try to install my HP Photosmart 7350 it gets to
the end of the install and then gives me an error that
says

"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.
This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode,
or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.
Contact your support personnel for assistance."

If I select OK then the software automatically
uninstalls. The last time I did not select OK and just
did a shutdown and it appears the software is installed.

I have never had this issue before and have installed
dozens of programs and the machine is not in safe mode.
My anti virus software is disabled.

I have updated my XP with all of the critical and other
updates.

Hi Mike,

Go to Start/Run and type in: regsvr32 wintrust.dll

If that doesn't help, run this script:
