Windows I am working in go inactive

when I am typing in a window it goes inactive after about 30- seconds making
me click in the window again to activate it- this happens whether I am online
writing an email or offline working in other programs- help

For some reason Earthlink task panel will cause this problem. If you hide
the task panel, it will fix your problem.

There are many viruses and spyware that will exhibit this behaviour. Have
you done a full, system-wide scan with a fully updated, recent (post-2002/3)
AVP and spyware remover (I use both AdAware and Spybot)?
