Active window becoming inactive

Every few minutes the window I am working on becomes inactive. It will do it
in most programs I have tied so far. I can be typing an email and look up
and half of what I typed is not there because it de-selected the window.
Any thoughts??

Yeah, my thoughts are to scan for viruses and spyware as a first step.

You might want to run your virus software in Safe Mode (pressing F8 a few
times while booting) - preferably with System Restore tuned off.

Other options (in Normal Boot Mode)
Run an online scan at

and/or

Download/Run Microsoft's Malicious Software Removal Tool

. Microsoft Windows AntiSpyware (Beta)
Download Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) to help protect your PC from
spyware and other potentially unwanted software.

. Lavasoft Ad-Aware

. Spybot Search & Destroy (S&D)

I've run two or three spyware programs, and checked with the anti-virus
software, nothing was found. I downloaded the MS Tweek UI and it still
happens.

Then the problem could be something new that the spyware cleaners above
don't have in their databases yet. In that case....

HijackThis direct download:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip
Tutorial on how to use HijackThis:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/htlogtutorial.html
Then post it's output log to the forum here for analysis and feedback by the
parasite experts:

Or the other HijackThis Logs forums listed here:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/forums.html

Or try this program to get some of the most nasty malware:

Gary, I haven't encountered that exact problem, but I have seen strange
things occur due to a defective mouse. Do you have another mouse you can
swap out for testing?

I am using a laptop with a USB mouse, I disconnected the USB mouse and tried
with just the touch pad, same problem. It hasn't done it so far today, but
the day is still young. I'll run some of the suggestions. Thanks.
