Windows hangs for long time on splash screen.

I've got a machine with Windows XP home that hangs for about an hour on the
splash screen before it will display the login screen. Once it has the login
screen it seems to act normally. I can, however access safe mode without
this problem. I have run complete spyware scans using spybot and Microsoft
anti-spyware. I also did a repair installation using the Windows CD. Any
ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you tried disconnecting all your Peripherals and any unnecessary
devices. Sounds like a hardware or device driver
problem. Since you did a Repair Install and it's not a virus or spyware.
Even a flaky Power Supply.
