Windows Explorer

new install XP Pro SP2 on 320 GB HDD:

Once installed, Windows Explorer is opened, click on My Computer and search
"flashlight" opens and it does this for 3-5 minutes before opening. When it
finally opens it is normal but close goes back to same "hang time"...

I use Windows Explorer aka "file manager" exclusively to open neccessary
files for normal daily business.

Have "reloaded" XP numerous times to no avail... only thing on PC is NIS
2007, worked fine up to final install of MS Updates/ReStart... then it
started...

Help... as I have to get my business running again...???

Thanks

Found answer to problem last night very late after working on this issue for
over 48 hrs... "Windows Image Aquisition" aka WIA:

"Long delay before files appear in My Computer in Windows XP"

XP Help and Support" on this site.

Item causing prob on "new" install due to power on & USB: Visioneer 9420
scanner.

"WIA" = provides image aquisition services for scanners and cameras.
