windows explorer keeps crashing

I posted this a few other places but all answers I have recieved do not work.

Everytime I start up an error automatically pops up and says windows
explorer has encountered a problem and must close. So, if I click close well
it goes away for like 30 seconds then pops up again.

If I click send report It send a response, then the box closes and then
again it ops up. Let's say it is a never ending circle.

I have click on details and it does tell me that it has to deal with
explorer.exe

and also, tells me a file that is involved. I try to like get rid of that
file but Nothing will stay open long enough to do a thing.

There were other malfunctions along with this like windows installer auto
opens at start up, but I used some info somone in here gave me and it stopped.

I do not know if anything got downloaded in the past week, when this started,
I know where to check some places to see what new is downloaded. Could it be
something that was downloaded that I did not know and where are the places I
can look.

One day I did have a porn site shortcut on the desktop when I opened up but
I thought I deleted it all.

Would i help to do anything in Safe Mode or run some type of SFC scan
orwhatever?

Any?

Hi Chris,

You should IMMEDIATLY start into safemode and run an SFC /SCANNOW Scan.
Then download and run an adware removing program such as Microsoft
Anti-Spyware or Ad-Aware 6SE. If it still broken, try a system restore.

Good luck :D

ChrisK. I have exactly the same problem although i dont know about any porn
files. I do have the continuous loop whereby explorer.exe crashes but for me
not only does it happen in Safe Mode. But it also cannot be fixed by any
amount of adaware or reg hacks that i can come up with.
Currently I'm using a shell ( LiteStep ) that i have installed to get round
the continuous crash although with the problem it limits the functionality of
LiteStep
Anyones input on this is welcome.

It's all good. I had an extra hard drive lying around anyway. I installed the
new drive, reinstalled Windows XP, and my virus stuff. I am all good now.
Just hope there wasn't anything I needed saved..LOL..
