unistalling explorer 8

I would like to know how to uninstall explorer 8 from my computer. I do have
the SP3 platform with XP ( NT 2000). Everybody tell me just go to add/remove
programs and delete it. Problem is that it is not listed in the add/remove
program list,only the updates.. My computer system tells me that I have
explorer 8 with SP3.
The reason I want to remove it that I can not get explorer to open up
anything. When I click on the explorer internet icon the desktop flashes 2-3
times like it is trying to open but then stops.. Does anyone have any ideas.

Did you check the Add/Remove list correctly? Internet Explorer 8 is
normally listed as Windows Internet Explorer 8 instead of Microsoft
Internet Explorer 8.
