Windows Explorer hanging

Ihave a Dell optiplex 500 that I have installed winows
xp. Everything seems to work fine except when I right
click on my computer and pick explore the little
flashlight will go on forever trying to find the drives
connected to this machine. It is attached to an ethernet
network with 100 mbit connectivity. All patches are
current. All other programs work fine. Any ideas?
