windows explorer hangs

I have for some time now had a problem whenever I bring Windows
Explorer up. If I click on it from a shortcut I have on my taskbar it
will come up fine, but after a minute or two then not respond. I then
have to go to the task manager and end the task.

My shortcut has these properties:

Target - C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n, /e, /select, C:
Start in - %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%

I don't know what else I can provide...if I use other shortcuts that I
have for network folders windows explorer comes up fine and does not
hang up. It just seems to be this shortcut plus possibly if I right
click on the Start menu and select 'explore', I believe that will hang
up as well.

Thanks for any input!

the task. Aarrrgh

The advanced tab under General has these checked:

'File is ready for archiving'
'For faster searching, allow indexing...'
'compress contents to save disk space'

The advanced tab on the shortcut tab has:

'Run in separate memory space' checked, but grayed out...

I have not re-booted yet.

Thanks

Still hangs...

That seems Okay to me, if you revert back to the old Pathname:
Target - C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n, /e, /select, C:
Start in - %HOMEDRIVE%%HOMEPATH%
and rebooted then see if that issue will go.

I removed the '/n, /e, /select, C:' parameters from the target and that
seems to have done the trick.

I need to go back and see what those parms were trying to accomplish,
all I know is the last one made it so windows explorer came up with the
C:\ root directory showing, rather than the 'My Documents' folder that
comes up without those parms.

Thanks for your help!
