Windows did not start successfully

Using XP Pro. At some time in the past I started to
experience this issue on startup. I have tried the
recovery point and also repairing XP. I have run the
diagnostics with no help. I have started using the last
good setup etc. no help. I don't really want to clean the
drive and reinstall. IDEAS!

Please give further details of the problem and also some details of what you
did to repair XP.

For the repair did you use the Recovery Console or the following procedure:

NOTE, while a repair install should leave your data files intact, if
something goes wrong during the repair install, you may be forced to start
over and do a clean install of XP. If you don't have your data backed up,
you would lose your data should that eventuality occur.

Boot from the CD. If your system is set to be able to boot from the CD, it
should detect the disk and give a brief message, during the boot up, if you
wish to boot from the CD press any key.

Once you have pressed a key, setup should begin. You will see a reference
asking if you need to load special drivers and another notice that if you
wish to begin the ASR (Automatic Recovery Console) depress F2. Just let
setup run past all of that. It will continue to load files and drivers.

Then it will bring you to a screen. Eventually, you will come to a screen
with the option to (1) setup Windows or (2) Repair Windows Installation
using the Recovery console.

The first option, to setup Windows is the one you want and requires you to
press enter. When asked, press F8 to accept the end user agreement. Setup
will then search for previous versions of Windows. Upon finding your
version, it will ask if you wish to Repair your current installation or
install fresh. Press R, that will run a repair installation. From there
on, follow the screens.

I did the Return and F8 routine accepting the user
agreement.

Perhaps an error was picked up in the error log. Go to Control Panel, open
Administrative Tools, open Event Viewer and look for errors that correspond
to this event. Double click the error, the information contained within may
give a clue as to what's going on.

Something else to try, boot the system, start tapping F8, at the menu there
should be an opttion to create a boot.log, do so then check the log after
booting, it should be located in the root of the C drive. Look for
LoadFailure in the bootlog. NOTE: some load failures are normal, things
have to do with networks or connecting to the Internet since no connection
exists during boot up.

If you don't see bootlog in Explorer after logging as suggested above, go to
Tools, folder options, the view tab, select "Show hidden files and folders,
remove the check from the hide options beneath it and click apply and ok.

I have the same problem, Windows did not start properly

After reading your answers here, I checked MY logand found a lot of errors and warnings; plus, they only go back to the 5th of the month, when I reformatted and reinstalled all my programs.
Another problem I had, when I reformatted my 2 partition OS drive, labeled as C and F, it caused me to lose files on my 2 partition storage drive labeled D and E. Luckily I had everything I needed on CDs, but I dont know why or how this occurred.
My errors for my windows failing to start properly, found in System Errors, are:

Before my reformat, I checked my Seagate hard drive with SeaTools diagnostics, etc and it found nothing wrong with my disk. I reformatted, reinstalled Windows, found my storage drive missing folders, turned it all off, unplugged the storage drive, reformatted the first drive again (but I can't remember WHY I did this, I was more concerned about my storage drive), installed Windows, attached the storage drive and changed my drive letters to match what I had before.
I can't think of anything else that might help.
Thank you for any help you can give, and I would appreciate an email if you have any suggestions on how to do what.
