Windows Defender

I have a Lap Top when I turn it on it gives me Windows Defender with Red Dot
with X and says Application failed to intialize: 0x800106ba. A problem caused
Windows Defender Service to stop. To start the service, restart your computer
or search Help and Support on how to start a service manually. I have
restarted my computer that didn't help. Can't use any keys to do anything,
can somebody help. Thanx Branch

Soljer, did Branch ever respond? I'm having the same problem and can't
figure it out.

The most frequent current cause of this symptom is an antivirus application
that intentionally disables Windows Defender. At least some current
versions of Norton, McAfee, and Symantec branded products do this.
