I get this error when I start my computer 0x800106ba preventing windows
defender
from running. How do I fix the problem?

Thanks I uninstalled Defender and then reinstalled it, and that fixed it.

I had the same problem and I got info from here. Just remove the WinDef and
re-install it. This worked for me.....so far. Good luck!!!

What version of Windows are you running?

If this error is occurring on Windows Vista, do this:

Start, accessories, right-click command prompt, choose run as administrator.

At the resulting elevated (running as administrator) command prompt, type:

sfc /scannow

and hit enter.

I tried that to and when I go to re-install I get that I already have it
so
