Windows Defender was unable to complete the update: 0x8024002b

I previously used the MS-AntiSpyware and have updated to Windows Defender.
Since the install of Windows Defender I haven't been able to update the
definitions. It gives me a yellow "!" on the systray. When I open Windows
defender it indicates "Windows Defender definitions haven't been updated in
46 days." If I click on "Check for Updates" button I receive the following
error.
"Windows Defender was unable to cmplete the update: 0x8024002b"

Any help would be great!

Thanks, Ed

This page was initially referred to me. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/915105
If you look around a few pages of people who had this problem, you'll see
this has been a problem for everyone. Back around late February, 2/25, we
found a 1-line command that solved the problem one time. Each time there's an
update, however, you have to use this same command...I questioned using it
every time yesterday, but I just tried it again, and it works for more than
one update. Anytime there is an update for windows defender that won't
complete itself, go to Start -> RUN... in the box, type or copy and pate the
following commandline:

Msiexec /x {A5CC2A09-E9D3-49EC-923D-03874BBD4C2C}

This will open a box that asks if you wish to uninstall this product. Select
yes. It uninstalls current update, which then enables new updates to be
installed. From there, use Windows updates to install the new update. You
will see a message when it is complete. Current version/signature update is:

Windows Defender Version: 1.1.1051.0
Engine Version: 1.1.1186.0
Signature Version: 1.14.1315.1

You can check this by opening up windows defender in your programs in start
menu. Look for Windows Defender. Once opened, use the dropdown box next to
the question mark icon '?' to the right and look at "About Windows Defender".
Actual signature version may be different if they update before you read
this. But that's the only extra step. Good luck!
