I understand, just like Ford, Nike, Apple, Sun, Fedora, Toyota,
Nestlé, New York Times, ABC, Symantec, Nissan, GMC, Disney and every
other ****commercial***** entity out there.

My opinion:

Microsoft "monopoly" is a JOKE if compared to companies that:

- do testing on animals
- dump toxic waste on rivers and seas
- cause accidents such as oil leakage
- use child work and "cheap manufacturing" (a bunch of people in a 3rd-
world country, getting very few $/hour and working in non-humane
conditions)
- contribute to global warming
- have unsafe workplaces

I can't understand why bother with Microsoft, when there are larger,
worser empires like McDonalds, Philip Morris, Monsanto (sp?), Exxon,
Nike and others...

Can't believe it. A reasonable post in this newsgroup. Oh!, somebody now
will tell you that MS is secretly experimenting with software to archive
child porn (even if it will suck cause Linux Torvalds does it better :-))))

Very simple, people **think** they hate MS because is cool to do that.
Everybody wants to feel cool and part of the elite by using some other
crap software (even if it does not work half as good as a MS one). But
hey, it's just so cooooolll to say " I don't use Publisher. That is
SHIT like everything MS does. I use <put name here>. It's only version
0.2 but is better. It's open source (I can't even read a line of c, but
hey, I have the ***source***. And hey, it does not do feature <put
feature here> but it's better (it's not MS you know. Oh, and it's
DEFINITLY faster. I have not done any mesure, but I'm sure it MUST be,
it's noit MS you know. :-))) It's human nature.

Non, money!

I saw my Windows XP invoice some days ago.... 259 bucks!!!!

Comparing the price of Linux and XP, I would say Linux is the absolute
winner... (if you have much money for MS-stuff, O.k., but that´s not a
reason to flame Linux, free Linux)

A found shoe (from a homeless person), cannot be so fast as brand new
NIKE pumps for 200bucks, or more.

Also when counting all the money MS earned in the last decades, the
result is poor. But Bill and his companions gave out good salaries, at
least :-)

Compared to the Linus Torvald Linux, XP may cost about half a dollar.
And so (50cents vs. free) compared is XP better :-), IMHO. But as
everybody knows, XP is not made by Bill Gates alone.

Well according to them, the only thing removed is cookie scanning which
was pretty useless anyway IMHO. They added some opt in peer to peer infor
sharing and the ability to run in all user accounts.

They also simplified the GUI, so you can no longer configure what
checkpoints are monitored.

"Real-Time Protection, which helps prevent unwanted software from being
installed, is enhanced to better monitor key points in the operating
system for changes. These features help you stay productive because they
help to prevent pop-ups and the performance degradation that is caused by
spyware and other potentially unwanted software."

My guess is they probably turned off some of the "checkpoints" to help
reduce prompts. To dumb it down for the masses.

Thanks for clearing that up. I was wondering if I had to uninstall MS
Antispyware Beta 1 first. If Windows Defender uninstalls the old in
order to install the new, then are all your current settings carried
over to the new program?
