Hi Robin:

I was trying to say that I wanted to run *one* of the anti-virus programs in
real-time (with regular on-demand scans) plus SuperAntiSpyware and
MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware run on an on-demand basis (on-demand scanning
only).

From reading the posts in these newsgroups, I'm getting the impression that
SuperAntiSpyware and MalwareBytes' Anti-Malware are a better set of tools
than Spybot Search&Destroy and Lavasoft Ad-Aware?

Thanks,
Jerry

Hello Jerry:

As Robin has explained, both MBAM & SAS are superior antimalware
solutions and in the minds of many have overtaken and surpassed Spybot
S&D and Ad-Aware while simultaneously their paid versions work very
well with each other.

When asking which AV product here is the best, you will probably not
see a consensus. However, currently all major AV products seem to be
working very well with MBAM & SAS, and no clear continual distinction
seems to exist between freeware & paid AV products.

You may find unbiased sites like AV-Comparatives.org, virusbtn.com,
icsalabs.com and others may provide valuable info. I personally
advise against opinions from computer magazine writers.

I personally recommend to others that as a generality, individual
"best of breed" products are preferred over suites.

A well kept HOSTS file and a reputable NAT router are also key.

yes you can run in real time one (and only one) antivirus program plus
superantispyware and malwarebytes on demand. Just remember on demand is
user based. YOU need to run scans and I suggest you run a scan at least
once a week.
As stated one of the only reasons I like superantispyware pro is that it
allows you to schedule scans and runs in real time. On demand only protects
(as long as you keep the yellow bug in startup) your main web site and other
small stuff but Pro protects you in real time and everything else
take a look at http://superantispyware.com/superantispywarefreevspro.html
and you can see the comparison between pro and free
Also I used to use Spybot and Adaware but I do not like them now
too many problems and slow downs of many of my clients computers and what I
have read in the many forums and newsgroups I belong to on the internet
