Windows blue screen

hello,
automatic update recently installed something on my computer, and now it
won't start up.
The computer starts, the safe mode menu options come on the screen and then
the screen just turns blue and restarts my computer again.
I don't have the CDs that came with the computer on hand. Is there any other
way I can fix this problem?
Please advise.

OK before i can help you, or anyone else, we need to know what error is
coming up. when your computer starts, continuously press the F8 key. This
will bring up the advanced options for starting Windows. There will be a
selection to disable automatic restart on system failure. This will just
bring you back to your blue screen only this time you will be able to read
what it says. Please post the error that is shown on this screen so we can
figure out what your problem is. thanks
