I bought a Compaq last year, and it came with Windows XP
professional already installed. At first I didnt have any
problems, but then IE6 began to mess up. First it would
freeze if another internet explorer page tried to open up
while i already had one open, which got really annoying, so
I finally uninstalled it and reinstalled. That fixed the
problem until a few months ago when it happened again. So,
once again i uninstalled and reinstalled. Now it works most
of the time, but sometimes it will only open up and nothing
else. if i click on it i get an error and it closes IE.
Then I started getting error messages with Windows
Explorer. It is always having errors and refreshing my
desktop. Sometimes it happens when i try to rename a file,
sometimes it happens when i try to copy a file or delete
one. It is starting to get really annoying. I tried to
download all of the updates, but everytime that I try to
get them from the microsoft page it says that it is
beginning the download, buthen just sits there for hours
upon hours with no results. Ultimately I had to download
each one off of another microsoft page. I have been told
that the reason why i could be getting errors with windows
explorer is because there is a problem with IE6 on my comp.

OK, if you've already scanned for spyware and done a virus scan with
current, updated av and that hasn't solved the problem, first look in
Event Viewer for clues. Also, do a RAM test. Post back if you need more
help with what you find in Event Viewer.
