Unstable Internet Explorer

Hi all
Not having any problems prior to the following.

It all started when I attempted to uninstall IE7 and revert back to IE6.
My computer suddenly became unresponsive, (all programs going haywire),
whereupon I did a repair install and everything worked fine.
I then reinstalled 106 priority updates, (with 11 failing) and the computer
again became unresponsive but only while trying to reach Internet explorer
and Windows newsgroups, (all other programs work fine). It seems that
everything works well after the repair install but once I reinstall the
updates the problem reoccurs.
Appreciate any helpful response. Sorry for the longwindedness.

Would like to add
I just uninstalled a few of the updates and everything is now working fine.
I will check to see which updates were involved to try to track down the
culprit and will follow up.

What problems were you having that you thought uninstalling IE7 might
resolve?

Did you or did you not successfully uninstall IE7 & reboot before doing the
Repair Install?

See...

installed:

Were the 11 updates that failed to install all IE related?

Are you currently running IE6 or IE7?
