Internet explorer

I am having trouble getting internet explorer to initialize. On 8/27/09, I
visited Microsoft update page and downloaded some 39 updates. I recall
something about Internet Explorer 8. Now each time I try to initialize it,
the page comes up for a second or so and then closes out. This happens with
any application that uses internet explorer. I get to the internet (as I am
now) the my Juno ISP connection but it is not dial-up, it is thru a Comcast
Hi-speed cable modem. I've gone back to Microsoft update page and tried to
"fix" Internet explorer but nothing seems to work. I've tried to reload
Internet Explorer 8, and the download program just stalls. Any help ???

Remove IE8 and restart twice.

How do I uninstall or remove Internet Explorer 8?
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700

You can hide IE8 from your updates and stay with IE7, or continue on in this
manner.

Download IE8 to your Desktop. Do not use Windows or Microsoft Updates.

Internet Explorer 8 download:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...FamilyID=341c2ad5-8c3d-4347-8c03-08cdecd8852b

Restart your computer. With no other programs running, disable your
anti-virus program and any spyware or spam programs you may have. If you are
running a third party firewall, disable it and enable the Windows firewall.

Now install IE8 from the Desktop. When you're done, restart your computer
twice and then make sure your disabled programs are running again.
