Windows 7 compatibility on currently-shipping systems?

I may have to buy a new system any day now and I plan to get Windows 7
on it ASAP, but that sounds like it;s a couple months away.

I'm looking at small-form-factor desktops, probably from ACER that
are on the shelves now. Will these run W7?

PS: Some of the machines are "quad core". What version of W7 will
use all the cores.

PPS: Is there a USENET group for W7? Damn, I dislike web boards for
this kind of thing.

Thanks

For **** sake...

It uses the same drivers as Vista so if it runs Vista, it'll run Win7.

Thanks, what's "Vista"? :)

Actually it's a useful answer, I'm just ignoring Vista as much as
possible.
