I have main os Windows XP Professional installation in my testing computer
Asus P5K Pro and raid 1 Seagate Barracuda 500 Gb and 4 partitions (C, D and
so on).
I installed Windows 7 testing version about 5 months ago and then RC 2
months ago. No problems to use multibooting systems. Now I install Windows 7
Ultimate 32 bits yesterday. I suprised that the product version W7 changed
the Disk letters in XP os. partion C: to D: and W7 os. (in XP d:) to C:. That
is dangerous in multibooting system. The virus and firewall program
F-Secure Client and HP mfp MC 2320 fxi Toolbox programs not starting and
send errors to Microsoft in XP os. NTFS informed disk errors etc., first that
errors in recycled in os. in W7 D: (in Xp c:). Of course both programs are
installed to own partions in XP and W7. First error information in
Be careful that kind of disk errors.
I tried to give and send informations to Microsoft engineers but it is
impossible without money (I am cf partner).

Try this:
1. Boot into Windows 7.
2. Create a backup of the System registry hive of your WinXP installation.
3. Boot into WinXP.
4. Run regedit.exe.
5. Navigate to HKLM\SYSTEM\MountedDevices\DosDevices\
6. Rename the drive letters the way you want them to be.
7. Reboot the machine.
