Will my External Hard Drive work on Windows 7?

Hi all,

Just picked up a Western Digital EHD for my current XP system.

However, we may be upgrading soon to a 64-bit WIndows 7 system.

The box (it was made before W7 was released) does not mention compatibility
with Windows 7. Will is work anyway?

As long as the connectors mate, it'll work.

If you give exact model numbers, then a more detailed
answer could be given.

External hard drives have USB2, Firewire 400 or Firewire 800,
or ESATA interfaces. (It could even be SCSI, but that isn't
common.) A computer is most likely to have USB2
connectors by default. The other connector types are
optional and a function of price. Or alternately, add-in
cards can be purchased separately, to make up for any shortcomings
of the new computer. For example, a PCI to USB2 card would
give USB ports, if for some strange reason, the desktop
computer had none.

Yes!
