Windows 2000 Defrag

I cannot defrag at all. It will analize then the engine
will shut down saying another instance of this is already
running. But there is not. Have not been able to defrag
for awhile and it's starting to cause problems. Is there
a way I can fix this or re-install defrag.exe without
having to re-install all of WIN2K?

That I am aware of, there is no way to re-install the
defrag that comes along with windows, other than re-
installing windows. However, there are 3rd party utilities
you can download that will defrag for you. I would suggest
doing a search in Google for such
utilities.....Also...have you tried to defrag in safe
mode?

Please launch Task Manager and look for an instance of dfrgntfs.exe running.
