window/pc freezes

I have a new Dell Inspiron 5150 with WinXP.
Now and then actually twice today it freezes. It doesn't react on ctrl+alt+del or ctrl+shift+esc or the mouse. Even the clock on the screen freezes. I can boot the machine by holding down the on/off button for 20 sekonds.
Then it boots and everything i fine. Also the clock shows the correct time after this.

This freezing can happen even if I am just writing text in MS-Word.

I have run diagnostics on the system but it passes all tests.

What can I do?

Try updating your video drivers.

The problem could be
1) caused by one of the fan in you system fails and the
system gets too hot
2) cause by virus or worm, you scan the entire system for
virus
3) you should download SP & patches for windows & MS
Office and other MS related products from MS website

HI, you may be close on system resources. Check the
amount of free space left. Also,a program may be running
that is sapping your unit. Open the Task Manager in the
taskbar and see iff another prog is going wild. If so,
shut it down in Task Manager and investigate the prog for
a solution. Good Luck
