I recently reformated my HD in NTFS andy then installed
the updates. Since then I have had freq. episodes where
the computer freezes. All that I can do to remedy the
situation is press the reset button. CTRL, ALT, DEL is
not functioning. Any suggestions??

Hi

Any error messages to work on? Have you had a look in the Event Viewer to
see if any entries there that may help?

Nest time install one or just a few updates at a time. And refrain from
installing driver updates.

I had similar problem with my home PC. After running many months using FAT32
I decided to convert my 40M HD to NTFS. After that the PC would randomly
freeze, sometimes before even getting logged on. I eventually decided that
maybe my old motherboard (Chaintech something with 900 MHz AMD) and/or BIOS
was incompatable with NTFS. Since I knew I had to reformat/reinstall anyway,
I bought a bigger 120M HD and reinstalled on it using FAT32. I kept the old
HD mounted also so I could copy from it. As long as I didn't access the old
HD I had no freezes. When I did access the old one, bingo, random freezes.
I've since reformatted the old one as FAT32 and no problems. Possible
related is the fact that the WD utility had to load the On-Track driver
inorder for the motherboard to see the whole 120M HD.
