Win XP SP2 wireless conflicts

Good afternoon.
Last week I downloaded the beta SP2. Right after
installing , and restarting, I got the blue screen which
flased quicklt and sent my laptop back to re-start. This
kept happening in a loop until I removed my wireless mouse
and and wireless USB adapter. Then it seemed to be working
fine until I tried to re-connect the mouse and adapter. I
finally managed to be able to re-connect only the USB
adapter. When I attempted to connect the mouse, it through
the computer screen into another blue screen fit. So, I
tried to do a system respore both from normal mode and
safe mode with no success. I then did what worked for me
with other problems. That was to restore from my last good
MS Back up of the system state. Well, that made things
even worse.
It came to the point that I could not get out of the loop.
When I tried to go into safe mode , all of the win 32 sys
driver files flashed on the screen and kept repeating. I
tried to do a repair from my XP CD and I thought this was
working until I came to the part that reqired me to enter
the product id. This is when I discovered that my keyboard
would not work. I had no way of typing in the product id.
There I was stuck. I eventually removed the laptop hard
drive and replaced it with the spare I was running with an
enclosure. I have now successfully done a clean install on
my old second hard drive. Now, my question is, I want to
try and recover files from the other Hard drive. If I put
this one in the USB driven enclosure and connect to my
desk top, will I have any problems with this unsuccessful
recovery, since the boot records are still in the other
hard drive.
At this point, all I want to do is get the files out, then
completely re-format this drive.

Thanks
Phil

You should NOT be using the beta copy of SP2. The release version is now
out. You should uninstall the beta copy and install the released version.

I know now. With the clean install of the second HD, I
have SP1 with all the revisions. I will wait to download
SP2.
As for the other HD, all I want to do is get the files out
if possible, then I will re-format it completely and re-
use later since it is a 60GB with 5,400 RPM and the HD I
went back to is only 20GB with 4,200RPM

OK, What I would do is install the suspect hard drive in the computer along
with the good hard drive. Most newer computers can accept at least two hard
drives. Take notice to the little jumper settings and get them set
correctly. They will either be CS for cable select or labeled as Master (for
the C drive) and Slave (for the suspect drive). If installed correctly, it
will show up as the D drive, and you should be able to copy any of the files
(other than the Windows system files) from the suspect D drive to your good
C drive. Then remove the old hard drive and do whatever with it you like
with it.

OK but the hard drives (both), we are talking about is a laptop hard drive
and for me to connect it as a second drive, I will need to use the external
usb 2 enclosure.

One is in the laptop, with no way to connect it internally as a slave. The
other is in the usb enclosure, with the only available connection through
USB port.

Find a computer that isn't a laptop, and that works, and install the "bad"
drive in it Then copy the files you want to save, and burn them to a CD.

Are the pin connections the same for the 2 1/5 laptop drive as they are for
a 3 1/5 desktop drive?
