win xp problem.

Gents I am no expert but................

I have a freind that has windows xp (1 yr old).

At (random) she gets a message (in a little pop up
window) (nt) Authority/system will shut your computer
down now???

(Has a little timer that counts down one minute then
shuts off the computer with no prvocation from her?

Anybody have any odeaS how stop this?????

Gary,

She's got one of the worms - possibly the blaster worm or welchia.
She needs to get it cleaned then do the Windows critical updates.
