Word shut down problem

A colleague has asked me whether I can find out the problem with her
machine. She's running Office 2003 on a Dell Windows 7 machine.

Each time she shuts down the computer, she gets two messages: the first
tells her that Winword is not responding, and the second is that changes
have been made to the normal template.

Now, since Word isn't running when she shuts down the computer, and since
she has previously deleted/recreated normal.dot, she wonders whether there
might be something more fundamental going on which she should investigate?

Any ideas?

Many thanks

Probably. A good place to start is "How to troubleshoot problems that
occur when you start or use Word 2010, Word 2007, Word 2003, or Word 2002"

I suspect the answer might be 'Go back to using Word 2000, and continue
mistrusting M$oft'! :)
