Hi, I am running Win XP Pro, how does one TURN OFF or
DISABLE the Windows default "cd-r" recording program? as I
prefer to use a 3rd party recording program that does not
have a Win Xp upgrade patch.
Any help would be greatly appreciated - Thank you

Open Windows Explorer and right click the CD-R drive. Select
Properties/Record Tab and remove the check mark from "Enable CD Recording on
this drive".

What are you trying to accomplish? If your 3rd party software isn't
supported under XP, then turning off the native burning capability of
XP won't fix it.

You can do it at My Computer - r-click the drive, Properties and uncheck
on the recording page.

You might as well then turn off the underlying service altogether:
Control Panel - Admin Tools - Services, d-click on IMAPI CD Burning,
click Stop then set Startup type to Disabled, and Apply
