Win xp doesn't start up

I have just upgraded win2000pro to winxp pro and now when I restart it shows
the win xp logo then the moniter blanks ,clicks off and then the systemd
restarts. It doesn't go beyond the win xp logo. pls help
 
Try hitting F8 and start in "Safe Mode" or "Last Known good config"
