WiFi connection

I have a wifi network at home. When I use the Dell laptop I to try and
connect I get a message that there is only limited connectivity yet the
signal strength is shown as excellent. When I try to connect to the Internet
I get the usual page not found screen. Any ideas why if the signal strength
is so good I can't connect?

Are you using the correct password, correct SSID, correct encryption
settings, is your router configured not to allow access to your MAC address
?

Thanks for the reply Colin but I'm afraid I'm a novice at this. At the
moment I haven't password protected the network and so I don't think there
is any encryption issue, still trying to get it going. As to the SSID and
MAC issues I'm afraid I don't understand that could you explain for me? I do
know how to open the admin screens for the router.

If your wireless access point/router does not support a flash drive you will
need to manually configure it with the same SSID (ie. network name),
encryption type (WPA is preferred if your router and clients support it) and
encryption key. I have to do that with my old Buffalo WBR-G54. With my
laptop and desktop wireless clients I simply plug-in the flash drive to
configure them...

Thanks Al that solution would seem to be OK in a home network but what would
I do when I use 3rd party access points like in a hotel?
