Why will outlook not hold my server passwords?

Every time I restart Outlook my server password is erased from the settings.
I do have the box (remember my password) checked. Additionally, I will have
periods of 1-5 hours where my ISP cannot recognize my login and/or password.
This does not happen with other PCs we have with the same ISP.

Type of account?
Do you have more than one account configured?
Do you have a virus scanner installed that integrates with Outlook? Disable
its integration and try again.

Most likely it is then. It probably creates some additional Toolbars in
Outlook as well. See the documentation of NIS on how to properly disable it.

According SBC at&t it is in the settings for the server -- Under Outgoing
Server check -longon using user Name: (e-mail address removed), check remember
password.
