Why the "plus" sign in front of email replies

For some reason, now when folks reply to an email, the ORIGINAL email is in
my inbox with a "+" plus sign in front of it. I have to click on that email
to see the NEW reply that is inside the original email. I did nothing to
change any options in Outlook Express. Why is this happening. I hate it! Can
I change this setting? Thanks for any help
