Why O Why doesn't reg change stick

B

bill

I change my logon pref using TweakUI to allow auto logon to my
account.

It seems to work once or twice then when I reboot it is gone and I am
back to clicking me on the logon screen.

it is doing that on two computers.

same OS (XP Pro) and other s/w.

One or more options/settings in an ever-growing number of third-party
applications may be disallowing the change(s) from "sticking". These include
but are not limited to Ad-aware Pro Ad-Watch, Spybot Tea Timer,
SpywareBlaster, SpySweeper, Spyware Doctor, CounterSpy, AVG Anti-Spyware,
Norton AntiVirus, McAfee VirusScan and/or Antispyware, NOD32, and Zone Alarm
(Free, Pro, & Security Suite).

PS: The above may be related to your OE issue, too! (Yes, we're
everywhere!)

Well, the only one I have is NOD32.
I used to have spysweeper and it would warn me so I am familiar with
that

I tried turning it off then back on after I changed it.
haven't checked it yet

OK, just checked OUTPOST and it has an entry for TweakUI to allow
changing critical objects which was unchecked - that was probably it.

I'll verify later.

THANK YOU...............

BTW

the outlook express error is "Stack Overflow in line 1"
when I forward the email, using my browser to HOTMAIL.com, to another
hotmail account or to my Yahoo account, which I have configured in
outlook express using YPOPS, I don't get the error any more.
I'll try deleting the account and reinstalling it in OE.

Do it via XP:

To correct:

1. Go to Start/Run and type in: control userpasswords2 and press ok.

2. On the Users tab, left click "your user name" then clear the Users Must
Enter A User Name And Password To Use This Computer check box and then click
OK.

3. In the Automatically Log On dialog box that appears, type the "user name
and password" for the account you want to be logged on each time you start
your computer.

Added note: (Alex MVP)

If you want to logon to one of the other users, hold down shift as the
system boots up.

Tip:

Add Control UserPasswords2 to the Control Panel (Line 1)
