Auto-Logon with disabled account

A stand alone xp-pro system had been set to auto-logon with the default guest
account, however somebody switched user to an account with admin privileges
and disabled the guest account.

Now the system boots, tries to logon with the disabled guest account then
immediately re-boots having failed to logon. This happens in safe mode too,
meaning that nobody can log on as an admin to either change the auto-logon
account details or re-enable the guest account.

Anyone any idea how to work round this, preferably without resorting to
re-installing the o/s?

Try pressing and holding shift at startup. This should suppress auto-logon.

thanks for that, just spent the last few weeks on 9x boxes where shift skips
the startup group and so had a little brain fade.

All fixed now
